MARKET PLUNGE 777 points
Stock market crashes
from Interest Rate Roundup by Mike Larson
No, I don't think that's hyperbole. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished down 777 points, the biggest point loss in history. The previous record was -721.56 set in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Standard & Poor's 500 shed 102.90, or roughly 8.5%. That was the worst percentage decline since the October 1987 crash. The Nasdaq Composite lost almost 200 points, or 9.1%.

Questionable articles :-)
The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation is reporting in the Kremlin today that the Bank of England has received from the FED a ‘notice’ that President Bush is preparing to declare an ‘Economic Emergency’ during the week of October 5th and will further announce that the American Presidential election due to be held on November 4th will be ‘indefinitely suspended’.

Video called "2008 US Election Suspended by October",
but actually is for Russian geopolitics, Osetia's, Israel etc...
Actually there is no one word for election suspentions.

Old but Gold: Who owns the Federal Reserve?
From: http://www.federalreserve.gov/generalinfo/faq/faqfrs.htm#5
Who owns the Federal Reserve?
The Federal Reserve System is not "owned" by anyone and is not a private, profit-making institution. Instead, it is an independent entity within the government, having both public purposes and private aspects.
As the nation's central bank, the Federal Reserve derives its authority from the U.S. Congress. It is considered an independent central bank because its decisions do not have to be ratified by the President or anyone else in the executive or legislative branch of government, it does not receive funding appropriated by Congress, and the terms of the members of the Board of Governors span multiple presidential and congressional terms. However, the Federal Reserve is subject to oversight by Congress, which periodically reviews its activities and can alter its responsibilities by statute. Also, the Federal Reserve must work within the framework of the overall objectives of economic and financial policy established by the government. Therefore, the Federal Reserve can be more accurately described as "independent within the government."
The twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks, which were established by Congress as the operating arms of the nation's central banking system, are organized much like private corporations--possibly leading to some confusion about "ownership." For example, the Reserve Banks issue shares of stock to member banks. However, owning Reserve Bank stock is quite different from owning stock in a private company. The Reserve Banks are not operated for profit, and ownership of a certain amount of stock is, by law, a condition of membership in the System. The stock may not be sold, traded, or pledged as security for a loan; dividends are, by law, 6 percent per year.
Conclusion -
Yes but No, not really, but sort of...
:-)

Ok what we have... $ 1,800,000,000,000.00 ... for now
We have 1.8 Trillion Bailout ( same from Mish ).
Gold is over $900, Oil hits $130 and now is ~120.
HUI ~ 9% up. EUR/USD ~ 1.48...
Stocks in Dow thumble almost 400 points - 3+ %.
The finance overweight SPX is already 4% down.
Short selling on 799 financial stocks are disabled, Naked shorts are finally disabled (hmmm), Gold margin requirements is already increased too - however I think this have somewhat good effect too.
John Williams is right - massive inflation was just created. There are 1,800,000,000,000.00 reasons why all this happens. Only thing I don't understand is whay stocks are down, I still believe they must be propelled up as well. May be we will have stocks flying tomorrow again.
EUR/USD:
Here I did some technical analysis on EUR/USD pair - weekly chart -
The old wedge was broken in "incorrect" way on the up side. The resistance was turnes suppor, then broken. Today we have same line broken - Hello :-)
Note it very depends how the line is projected. Better wait a little bit more until 1.52 before do anything :-)

AIG's ex-CEO refuses $22 million severance payout
http://biz.yahoo.com/rb/080922/financial_aig_willumstad.html
Reuters
American International Group Inc's (NYSE:AIG) former Chief Executive Robert Willumstad has rejected a $22 million severance payment, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the decision.
Willumstad e-mailed his successor, Edward Liddy, of his decision to forego the severance since he was not able to execute the restructuring plan he had developed, the paper said.
The newspaper also reported major shareholders concerned about the government takeover were planning to meet on Monday to discuss alternatives to the federal bailout, citing a person familiar with the matter.
AIG and Robert Willumstad could not be immediately reached for comment.

Did Bernanke Panic? And Where Are We Going?
"We have lost control," said Hale, quoting Bernanke. "We cannot stabilize the dollar. We cannot control commodity prices."

Weep For The Free Market
The Federal Government just declared war on short sellers.
Will it help the real economy? No sir.
Will it help the value of my house? Nope.
Will it blow up hedge funds? Yep.
Is it a selling opportunity? You betcha.
Will the rally last ? No.
Will earnings increase? Actually I think they will fall.

Weekend song - Goodbye Rick
Hey you, out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old
Can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
Can you feel me?
Hey you, dont help them to bury the light
Dont give in without a fight.
Hey you, out there on your own
Sitting naked by the phone
Would you touch me?
Hey you, with you ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out
Would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, Im coming home.
But it was only fantasy.
The wall was too high,
As you can see.
No matter how he tried,
He could not break free.
And the worms ate into his brain.
Hey you, standing in the road
Always doing what youre told,
Can you help me?
Hey you, out there beyond the wall,
Breaking bottles in the hall,
Can you help me?
Hey you, dont tell me theres no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall.
Well, only got an hour of daylight left. better get started
Isnt it unsafe to travel at night?
Itll be a lot less safe to stay here. youre fathers gunna pick up our trail before long
Can loca ride?
Yeah, I can ride... magaret, time to go! maigret, thank you for everything
Goodbye chenga
Goodbye miss ...
Ill be back

Yesterday I posted a comment that Anti-Naked short selling rules are actually very good, however today, I can not dissagree that the ban of short selling is just like what they did in Pakistan.
